Erin Maroon
Board President, Chief Executive Officer
As co-founder, she is the driving force behind Ashlie’s Embrace, igniting hope and healing in the wake of profound loss. Together with her husband, Anthony, Erin established the organization following the heartbreaking loss of their first child, Ashlie, at full term. Drawing from her experience as a Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics and armed with an MBA in Marketing from Walsh University, Erin leads with unwavering dedication and passion. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Erin finds solace and joy in her role as a devoted mother. Alongside Anthony, she proudly nurtures and cherishes their son, AJ, honoring Ashlie’s memory with boundless love and resilience.
Anthony Maroon
Board Vice-President
Dedicated co-founder of Ashlie’s Embrace, standing alongside his wife, Erin, in their mission to support grieving families. Married since 2006, Anthony and Erin call North Canton, Ohio, home. With over 25 years of experience in law enforcement, Anthony brings invaluable expertise to his role as a Fraud Investigator for a major insurance company. Additionally, he finds joy in his pursuits as the founder and owner of Sound Waves Entertainment, LLC, and as the lead singer for Cool Change. Together with Erin and their son, AJ, Anthony remains committed to making a positive impact in their community and beyond.
Angela Brooks
Board Member, Chief Operating Officer
Seasoned executive with a diverse background in leadership roles, including her tenure as CEO of A Christmas Story House & Museum and as a small business owner in Cleveland, Ohio. With decades of experience spanning various industries, including non-profit, Angela has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic acumen. In recognition of her philanthropic and fundraising endeavors, Angela was honored with a “Resolution of Recognition” by the City of Cleveland City Council in 2015. Her efforts raised over a quarter million dollars, contributing to the rebuilding and restoration of Tremont, Cleveland’s oldest neighborhood. Angela’s commitment to community betterment extends beyond this recognition, as she has received numerous other awards throughout her illustrious career. Currently residing in Berea, OH, Angela shares her home with her husband and is a proud mother of four and grandmother. Her dedication to making a positive impact is evident in both her professional achievements and her personal life.
Crystal Eller
Board Secretary
Bringing a wealth of experience in leadership and event coordination as a Sales Director with Mary Kay, her passion for Ashlie’s Embrace is deeply rooted in the losses and fertility issues experienced by the women in her family. After attending the inaugural FriendRaiser Gala, Crystal felt compelled to support the organization in any way possible. Beyond her professional endeavors, Crystal and her husband Derek reside in the Akron, Ohio area, where she proudly embraces her role as a grandmother.
Erika Frey
Board Treasurer
A powerhouse in both the corporate and entrepreneurial worlds. By day, she serves as the Supply Chain Finance Senior Manager at Shearer’s Foods, where she skillfully navigates the financial landscape. Erika also handles all the financials for her husband’s company, All in One Frey’s Home Improvement. A proud alumna of Walsh University, Erika holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and furthered her education with an MBA in Management, and CMA certification, showcasing her commitment to excellence and lifelong learning. Beyond her impressive professional pursuits, Erika is a dedicated wife and mother, sharing her home in Canton with her loving husband and three children.
Kendall Reid
Board Member
A compassionate educator who dedicates her days to nurturing young minds as a 2nd-grade teacher in Houston County, Georgia. Graduating with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College & State University in 2013, Kendall brings a wealth of knowledge and empathy to her classroom In her personal life, Kendall shares a deeply meaningful journey with her husband, Andy. Together, they cherish the memory of their beloved angels, Ruby (10/7/17-10/9/17) and Jack (stillborn 5/31/19). Following the devastating loss of their son, Jack, Kendall and Andy found solace and purpose in Ashlie’s Embrace. Through their involvement with the organization, they honor their babies’ legacies while also raising awareness about the importance of CuddleCots in supporting grieving families. In addition to their precious angels, Kendall and Andy welcomed their newest daughter, Abigail, to the family in 2023, bringing endless joy and light into their lives. Kendall’s unwavering dedication to her students and her commitment to advocating for others in their time of need make her a valued member of our team.
Christine Davis
Board Member
With over 15 years as Executive Director of a non profit organization specializing in professional development and advocacy, Christine brings a wealth of knowledge in organization and non profit management. Christine holds a Masters in Urban Planning, Design, and Development from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Allegheny College. After experiencing a full term stillbirth at 37 weeks in 2016, Christine and her husband, Frank, were blessed to use one of the first cooling units donated by Ashlie’s Embrace. Several years later, Christine and her family donated a Cuddle Cot in memory of their son, Whitaker Frank Davis. After meeting families who were not given the option of a cooling unit, Christine felt drawn to use her professional skills as a non profit executive and her personal experience with a cooling unit to help Ashlie’s Embrace continue their mission. Christine lives in Copley with her husband, Frank, and their two boys, Alex and Andrew.
